Every cent counts.
Your contribution is more than an animal shelter donation, it:
- provides shelter, food, rehabilitation and care for up to 250 companion animals at the TEARS Shelters
- funds an outreach solution that sterilises and vaccinates companion animals in vulnerable communities
- helps educate children and communities on how to look after their pets
- rescues animals in distress from all over Cape Town's South Peninsula and gives them a second chance
- and helps feed low-income community cats and dogs
TEARS is a Pro-Life, non-profit organization, established in 1999 (registered in terms of Section 18a of the Income Tax Act) whose core aim is to rescue, rehabilitate, treat and rehome lost, abandoned, abused and neglected animals, and to educate the communities within which we operate, in particular the children.
Our focus is on sterilisation to prevent unwanted animals from being born into a life of suffering, abuse and neglect and annually we sterilise in excess of 7 000 dogs and cats. In addition we are one of the leading organisations in the compassionate sterilisation and management of the peninsula’s feral cat colonies through our Feral Cat Project. To date TEARS has homed in nearly 18,000 animals.
